Do your research people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have a new pet peeve, and no, it's not people who start their sentences with the word so.

It's e-mails that are sent out that are either: 1. Not True At All, or 2. Were Once True, Years Ago!

Why do these e-mails continue to circle the web, over and over and over and over and over.....?

Whenever I get an e-mail that I wonder about remotely, I go to snopes.com. Snopes.com is a great site to find out what's true if you don't want to put the time into doing the research yourself! Just type in the subject of your e-mail, and voila, you get the facts, without sending on to someone who will send it on to someone who will send it on to someone. I mean, 50 years from now we will still be getting the same e-mail that Barack Obama doesn't salute the flag (it was actually the National Anthem when he didn't place his hand over his heart, hmmm, I don't do that either)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArDGDkp5DNE, Osama Bin Laden owns Citibank, or that Dunkin Donuts employees celebrated the terrorist attacks on 9/11!

I mean, come on people, check out the facts!

Here are some facts about the possible future President of the United States, Sarah Palin.

She has been governor of the 3rd smallest state (population wise) for about a year and a half.
Before that she was mayor of a town of about 8000 people.
She is a Creationist and believes it should be taught in public schools.
She is a big fan of home schooling.
She has a 100% score from the NRA.
She believes abortion should be outlawed in all cases, even rape and incest, and the women and doctors should be prosecuted.
She supported Pat Buchanan in his previous runs for the Presidency and considers herself part of the far Right's "Culture War".
She said in March she has not given any thought to the war in Iraq, even though her son is being deployed there in a couple weeks.
She does not believe in global warming.

Now, those are just a few facts. And McCain thinks he's going to get Hillary supporters to vote for them? Also, think about this. McCain is 72 and has battled cancer at least twice. As many historians have pointed out, Palin is perhaps the least qualified person on a major party ticket ever.
I encourage you all, as the title of this thread suggests, to do your research.

I agree it's scary to think of her being President. I really don't see how she's qualified to deal in international affairs. This is very important stuff.
I really think McCain shot himself in the foot with this choice.

McCain has been sending out his spokespeople to suggest that she is uniquely qualified in understanding international affairs because Alaska is close to Russia. I.am.not.kidding.

I've heard that argument over at LP. When is the VP debate? I really think it will be a load of fun to watch, especially because she has no declared opinion on so many things.

VP debate is 2 October. I hope Palin is forced to admit some of her crazy beliefs regarding global warming, evolution, etc.

Here are some more facts about the possible future President of the United States, Sarah Palin.

She opposes sex education in schools, preferring the abstinence-only approach. I don't care that her unmarried 17 year old daughter is pregnant, but it's further proof that abstinence-only doesn't work. You want to reduce abortions - promote birth control. Of course she got pregnant at 43, so she likely believes that birth control is a type of abortion.
She is a huge supporter of drilling in the Alaska Wildlife Refuge.
Finally, and most importantly, she was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party in the 90's. This party favored secession from the United States. So, the possible future VP of the US (and with McCain's health history and age possible future President of the US) was in favor of Alaska seceeding from the US. Now the Republicans have nominated unqualified VP's (Quayle) and extremist VP's (Cheney) before and won. But Palin is both. Plus, she hates America. More info on the AIP from ABC News:

It's a new day, so naturally there's a new scandal surrounding the potential future President of the United States, Sarah Palin. So far I have talked about how she is extraordinarily unqualified, dangerously extremist and hates America. Well, she is also a wannabe book burner. From Time Magazine:

As mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. She asked the library how she could go about banning books because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. The librarian was aghast. The librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire her for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

I don't know how she makes it to Election Day.

I hate to keep bringing up Palin, but new info keeps coming out. I guess that's what happens when McCain decided to vet her after he chose her. Anyway, she apparently does have an opinion on the never ending occupation. And surprise, it's CRAZY!

Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

Religion, however, was not strictly a thread in Palin's foreign policy. It was part of her energy proposals as well. Just prior to discussing Iraq, Alaska's governor asked the audience to pray for another matter -- a $30 billion national gas pipeline project that she wanted built in the state. "I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.

I'm all for praying before making a big decision, heck, I wish I'd done that myself more often.

But I agree she's got some crazy notions. I don't like the way they go about keeping the wolf population down in Alaska, and she will not approve a more humane way of doing it because it costs more.

The war, well, it's clear how I feel about that!!

And banning books, who made her our moral conscious?

Thing is, the far right who didn't like McCain (Rush and his ditto-heads) because he's too moderate will LOVE her!!

Well, this post went way of topic!

I found this info about Palin's FORMER pastor. I have to stress former because she may have left the church because she doesn't agree with him. Either way, it's scary there are pastors in America preaching this:
"But Pastor Kalnins has also preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven; charged that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and war in Iraq were part of a war "contending for your faith;" and said that Jesus "operated from that position of war mode.""

I guess I'm going to hell....

Better cancel my membership to the Left Behind website.

Here's the entire quote from the ex-pastor. Sounds like he wants Christians to be like the Muslim extremists we are fighting. How do churches like this keep their tax-exempt status?

What you see in a terrorist -- that's called the invisible enemy. There has always been an invisible enemy. What you see in Iraq, basically, is a manifestation of what's going on in this unseen world called the spirit world. ... We need to think like Jesus thinks. We are in a time and a season of war, and we need to think like that. We need to develop that instinct. We need to develop as believers the instinct that we are at war, and that war is contending for your faith. ... Jesus called us to die. You're worried about getting hurt? He's called us to die. Listen, you know we can't even follow him unless you are willing to give up your life. ... I believe that Jesus himself operated from that position of war mode. Everyone say "war mode." Now you say, wait a minute Ed, he's like the good shepherd, he's loving all the time and he's kind all the time. Oh yes he is -- but I also believe that he had a part of his thoughts that knew that he was in a war.

What's really surprising is that the extreme far right does not see a problem with Sarah Palin throwing her daughter under the bus like this, besides the fact that she is putting her political career ahead of the care of her kids.

Debo said...

Some people are speculating that she will NOT make it to election day, but some big emergency (like her daugher having a miscarriage) will force her to drop out from the race.
Then maybe he'll chose Lieberman!!

I hate to pile on, but...

The Washington Post is reporting that Sarah Palin and her husband were part owners of a car wash that was shut down by the State for noncompliance with state regulations:

"State records show the business ran into trouble with Alaska's division of corporations business and professional licensing after Palin became governor of the state in 2006.

A Feb. 11, 2007 letter to the governor's business partner advises that the car wash had "not filed its biennial report and/or paid its biennial fees," which were more than a year overdue.

The warning letter was written on state letterhead, which carried Palin's name at the top, next to the state seal.

On April 3, 2007, the state went further and issued a "certificate of involuntary dissolution" because of the car wash's failure to file its report and pay state licensing fees"

How can Palin be trusted to run the country when she can't even run a car wash in Anchorage?

Also, last year she slashed funding for a program that helped teen mothers find housing.
